Advertising & Commercial Content

How commercial relationships work here, and how they are disclosed.

Version 1.0 · Effective 29 August 2026 · Last updated 29 August 2026

01The principle

Commercial relationships never influence our editorial judgement, and readers should always be able to tell at a glance whether they are reading independent journalism or commercial content.

02Types of relationship

We disclose four distinct relationships, each labelled on the article itself.

  • Sponsor: a named organisation has paid to support the article or series.
  • Affiliate: we may earn a fee where a reader acts on a link.
  • Commercial partner: an ongoing arrangement with an organisation we also cover.
  • Provided content: material supplied by an organisation and published with attribution.

03Labelling

Commercial content is labelled above or immediately beside the headline, before the reader reads the story. It is never disclosed only in the footer, and it is never styled to look like independent reporting.

04Editorial control

Sponsors may not approve, review or change independent editorial content. Where a sponsor supplies content, that content is marked as supplied and is not presented as our reporting.

05Data and research

Market data, suburb research, signals and calculators are not for sale. No organisation can pay to change a metric, a signal or a ranking.
