Editorial Standards

How we report, source, disclose and correct.

Version 1.0 · Effective 29 August 2026 · Last updated 29 August 2026

01Accuracy

We aim to be accurate in every published figure and claim. Material facts are checked against the underlying release, filing or data set before publication, not against secondary reporting alone. Where a figure is modelled rather than reported, we say so.

02Sourcing and attribution

Stories carry their sources. Where reporting originates elsewhere, we link to the original and credit the publication that did the work. We do not republish other outlets copy, and we do not reuse third-party imagery unless the rights permit it.

03Anonymous sources

Anonymity is granted only where the information is in the public interest and the source faces a real risk in speaking on the record. An editor must know the identity of any anonymous source, and the reason for anonymity is recorded internally.

04Reporting, analysis and opinion

News reporting, analysis and opinion are labelled distinctly. Analysis interprets evidence and shows its working. Opinion carries the author name and is clearly marked. Neither is presented as straight reporting.

05Corrections

We do not silently rewrite material factual errors. When a material error is corrected, the article carries a dated correction note describing what was wrong. Minor typographical fixes are made without a note. Anyone can report an error using the link on every article.

06Conflicts of interest

Contributors declare relationships with companies, developers, agencies and individuals they cover. Where a relevant relationship exists, it is disclosed on the article or the contributor does not cover that subject.

08AI-assisted content

AI may assist with research, summarising source material, structuring drafts and tagging entities. AI does not publish. Every AI-assisted article is reviewed and edited by a human before it goes live, and its factual claims must be traceable to a source. Where editorial policy requires it, articles carry a restrained AI-assisted note.

09User submissions

Tips, corrections and reader material are welcome. We verify before we publish, and we do not publish the personal details of people who report errors.

10Factual updates

Stories that develop are updated in place with a revised timestamp. Where an update changes the meaning of the original story, we say what changed.
